Aleid Channing

My name is Alied Channing, I work as a line producer for TV documentaries.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with Ocular myasthenia gravis, I had symptoms for 3 years before this. When looking far away i.e. driving, walking in the street , in the theatre or looking at the TV I get double vision - to begin with intermittently, but now nearly all the time. My vision seems to ‘slide‘ so one object floats off to produce two objects with the second one appearing in the right, higher up.

In order to be able to continue driving, I need to wear an eye patch on one eye which has taken a while to adjust to. I also find that when I walk on the street everything is a bit of a blue, which makes me less confident crossing the road.

I hope that the exhibition will bring more awareness of eye conditions that are not obvious to others.
