Familial Exudative Vitreo-Retinopathy (FEVR)

(FEVR) is an inherited condition where the blood vessels in the retina at the back of the eye do not develop normally. This can cause the vessels to leak, preventing them from providing oxygen to the retina, or they can form scar tissue that can increase the risk of retinal detachment and vision loss. FEVR does not always cause symptoms and some people may only be diagnosed when a family member is affected.
