Who was I? Pre-Haemorrhage

Elizabeth Manuel

Following a massive brain haemorrhage & stroke at 46 years of age which left her mostly blind, paralysed, and disabled, Elizabeth went away to rehab for 18 weeks and was asked to do a project to show she understood her brain injury.

WHO WAS I? Shows the pre-haemorrhage Elizabeth’s brain, with all it’s functionality and the life it created.  This strong, bright, bold, and busy watercolour reflects Elizabeth’s pre-stroke life as a full-time Judge; mum of two teenagers; who loved to ski, play tennis, and run. She was a “domestic goddess” loving to cook, entertain, and socialise.  She spoke good French, was an excellent public -speaker and was happy with her lot.
