Who am I? - The Haemorrhage

Elizabeth Manuel

This dark, cold, black and grey watercolour, depicts the devastation on Elizabeth’s brain of a massive ruptured aneurysm and the surge of red blood soaring through her brain destroying everything in its path, leaving her paralysed; with no functionality down the left arm and hand; with homonymous hemianopia leaving her totally blind in the left half of each eye.  Her judgement, logic, and reasoning were impaired, and she suffered from emotional dysregulation. The painting shows the brain scan from the night of her haemorrhage recording:-“The appearances most likely represent a giant middle cerebral artery aneurysm which has ruptured.”
